Who We Are

André Marcoux chairs one of the largest international conferences of pediatric Audiology and is a past president of the Canadian Academy of Audiology. He dedicates himself to the development of research initiatives into the assessment and rehabilitation of pediatric hearing loss.

After finishing his Doctorate in Experimental Psychology at Carleton University, he moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to work as a pediatric specialist. While there, he became involved in hearing aid research and development. Innovations in hearing aid design came to light through his research, and advances were made in diagnosing hearing loss in newborns and young children.

His research results are in high demand and during his career, he has presented his findings around the world. His research program examines hearing development during childhood and the definition of normal hearing during the developmental process.

He was also instrumental in initiating an international Audiology effort to give assistance and supervise poverty stricken areas of Zambia, Africa. His efforts resulted in professionals helping the less fortunate at schools, community centres, and orphanages for HIV-positive and vulnerable children in Lusaka, Zambia.
