Hearing Aids are available in a number of styles including:

CIC (Completely-In-the-Canal)

These hearing aids are the newest and smallest style and can be virtually unnoticeable. However, some people with severe hearing loss or with small ear canals might not be able to use them.

ITC (In-The-Canal)

In-The-Canal instruments are larger than CICs and occupy more space in the ear canal. They may be simpler for some people to manipulate but they are still small in size.

ITE (In-The-Ear)

In-The-Ear hearing aids are custom built to fit the contour of the wearer's ear. The electronics of the hearing aid are built directly into the earmold and there is nothing sitting behind the wearer's ear.

BTE (Behind-The-Ear)

Instruments of this type hook over and behind the ear. An earmold is custom designed to fit the contours of the ear and to send sound directly into the ear canal. Although Behind-The-Ear instruments may appear larger than the other types, in many cases they can be hidden by the hair and they can incorporate more power and features than may be possible with smaller hearing aids.
